By Friday afternoon, Kanawha-Charleston Health Department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority will have administered more than 5,000 COVID-19 vaccines during several clinics since last Friday, including more than 800 at today at Shawnee Sports Complex.
In observance of the Easter holiday, KCHD and KCEAA will not have a large-scale vaccination clinic Saturday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Large-scale weekly clinics will resume April 10 at the Coliseum.
If you are due for the second dose of your COVID-19 vaccine April 3, KCHD will contact you next week and schedule you for the clinic April 10 at the Coliseum.
While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people get the second shot as close to the recommended 3-week or 4-week interval as possible, the second dose may be given up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose.
Those who are due for their second dose may also call KCHD at 304-348-8080 and schedule an appointment in the health department’s clinic.
