A total of 919 people were vaccinated during eight COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Kanawha County high schools Tuesday morning.
The simultaneous clinics were held for students age 16 and up after COVID-19 outbreaks were reported in several schools.
“We are so grateful for every student who got vaccinated today, and for our partner organizations who helped make our clinics possible,” said Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. “Vaccines are an important tool in helping stop this pandemic.”
The clinics were a partnership between KCHD, the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, the Kanawha County Commission, the city of Charleston, Kanawha County Schools, Charleston Area Medical Center, West Virginia Health Right and the Charleston Fire Department.
Students age 16 and older who missed Tuesday’s clinics may still be vaccinated with parental permission at Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. Call 304-348-8080 to schedule an appointment.
