KCHD, with the assistance of the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, held drive-up testing events this week at West Virginia State University in Institute, the Schoenbaum Center in Charleston and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery.
A total of 214 people were tested at West Virginia State University Wednesday, which was the largest turnout KCHD has had at a single day drive-up test site. Additionally, 83 people were tested Tuesday at the Schoenbaum Center, and 68 were tested in Montgomery.
“We’ve noticed that more women than men are getting tested during our events,” said Monica Mason, education director for KCEAA. “We’d like to encourage day care workers that haven’t been tested to come to one of the events we have planned next.”
“While we’re still gathering the demographics,” Kanawha-Charleston Health Officer Dr. Sherri Young stated, “we are particularly happy that members of our minority population are taking advantage of these drive-up clinics—particularly the one held at West Virginia State University in Institute.”
Drive-up testing events are planned for:

Elkview Baptist Church
1150 Main Street, Elkview WV
